The Australian Well-Managed Practice Project is an exciting new initiative of AVBA and Pfizer in conjunction with MPV Consulting. AVBA director Dr Lindsay Hay launched the project at the AVBA Business conference in September 2010 and said, “WellMap is a far-reaching program that will benefit our members and the wider profession in all sorts of ways. WellMap will assess practice performance using financial, productivity and staff satisfaction surveys to discover what differentiates veterinary practices and how excellent practices achieve their success. Sadly, it’s a fact that there are a significant number of Australian practices that are not returning a profit and we want to find out what can be done to help overall practice performance across our industry.” “Once we have identified the highest performing practices there will be the opportunity for them to share their experiences with others in this group and more widely through workshops, discussion groups, lectures and published material. This means that all practices will learn more about their own performance and how they compare to others across the country. As well they will learn how the very best managed practices in Australia achieve their success.” Dr Hay continued, “The AVBA will be able to use this information to plan how to help all veterinary practices in Australia as we strive to reach our vision of outstanding veterinary business success.” Patrick Dorahy, Business Unit Director (Companion Animal) at Pfizer said, “AVBA is successful because it thinks hard about what members and supporters need and we at Pfizer are very pleased to be associated with such an organisation.
